Hummingbirds, including at least a few adult male Rufous in the northeast this summer, have been migrating for at least several weeks already and Ruby-throateds have moved in good numbers over the past week or more... One way of gaging their numbers in migration is to check hawk-watch

This afternoon, from the top of the Palisades, directly across from the north end of the Bronx, Rita and I were watching Osprey fly up and down the Hudson. At about 5 PM, we saw one leave the Bronx side and fly low over the water directly toward us. As it approached, we both put up our binoculars
