At about 3:30 today there was a very unusual American tree sparrow at the Jones Beach Coast Guard Station. It had the rufous cap and two white wing bars as normal, however its head was not gray, but spotty black. Above what would be the rufous eye line was a slight bit of gray before the cap

On Monday morning at Montauk Pt. there were abundant birds, but little variety. Highlights were the continuing Scoter spectacle off the Point. I did not estimate the number of birds, although Surf Scoter seemed the most abundant followed by White-winged and Black Scoters. Fifty-three Razorbills
