First seen briefly around 4:35 p.m. from the parking lot near the
fisherman's drive. It popped up in one of the tress near the parking lot
where Starlings, Cowbirds and a few Red-winged Blackbirds had gathered but
then dropped out of sight.
Later, seen through 5:15 p.m. with very good views thank
October 19 - At Lewiston Reservoir there were 14 Turkey Vultures and one
BLACK VULTURE in the direction of the Brock Memorial (west). Also 8
Red-breasted Megansers.
At Fort Niagara there was a JAEGER sp. (possibly a Pomarine) 19 Northern
Pintail, and about 30 Scaup sp.
At Lewiston 4 Li
A very late Blue-winged Warbler at point blank range outside the window today
(10/19) at Bedford Audubon's offices in Lewisboro was certainly a surprise.

I received a call from Rich Fried to say that the Yellow-headed Blackbird
continues at Captree State Park as of 3 PM. It is mixed in with Starlings,
Cowbirds and Red-wings in and around the circle drive just inside the park
entrance and also frequenting the narrow road leading to the boat launch
p

I left the immature male Yellow-headed Blackbird under Ken Feustel's capable
guardianship, and it was still present when I returned 45 minutes later with
Patricia Lindsay. As mentioned by Andrew, it associates with a big flock of
Brown-headed Cowbirds, Red-winged Blackbirds, Boat-tailed Grackles
Shai Mitra, just called to report finding a Yellow-headed Blackbird at
Captree State Park. The bird was observed near the area where the Common
Ground Dove was found last year, but seems to be roving quite a bit. If you
go out there to try for the bird, please post negative or positive reports.
