What is the current status of the graces warbler? Does it appear that the

Pelham Bay Park, 4 January 2012
Joe Giunta, Sam Jannazzo, Debbie Martin and I (Sy Schiff) braved the cold
(fortunately no wind) and ventured into the woods. While most birds were
scarce, we managed a mix of woodland birds: Red-tailed Hawk, 4 Woodpecker
species, Tufted Titmouse, White-breasted
FYI re the Common Chaffinch currently present in Hunterdon County, NJ. The
property owner has graciously opened his yard to visitors BUT that is ONLY
DURING THE WEEK - NO WEEKEND VISITORS. See below for further details.

The Chaffinch in Union New Jersey was seen well by all this morning, making
appearances about every 20 minutes on the ground at the base of the left-most
feeder, as viewed from the porch (from 8-9 at least). Details are given on the
New Jersey RBA found at birdingonthe.net.
Please note
Grace's Warbler continues to be seen as of 11:30am. Bird has been actively
feeding in plain view since my arrival at 9:45.

Finally got to some of the Midtown parks today. The RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD was
present just West of the AMNH 81st Street entrance at around 9:30am. A
walk through Central Park produced a FOX SPARROW, YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER
and the continuing RED-HEADED WOODPECKER (NW corner of the fenced preserve

been hanging out since it was found.
