I just received photos from Carl Safina of a gray Gyrfalcon he found this afternoon around 1pm along the Wantagh Parkway. Although I do not have an exact location (and am trying to get one), he reports that the bird was along the water, so it must have been along the south end of the Wantagh just

 The barnacle goose was not present on eastport pond at 1330 today. After visiting with my folks in nearby Remsenburg I returned at 1630 and again no luck. The few remaining geese took flight to the north. Off to the sod farms, where the barnacle goose was quickly located in the field bounded

All, Today i visited Jamaica Bay with Rhys Marsh. Despite the chilly wind, we found the Eared Grebe from the end of 10th St in Broad Channel (south of park visitor's center). It was diving frequently and easy to miss in the waves. We had no luck looking for a Barrow's from the West Pond trail.
