6/23/12 Whiteface Mountain, 4,865', clear, calm winds, temp 52 to 58

There doesn't seem to be a pattern to their appearances at this point - or
maybe it's changed. I was there early yesterday and they weren't. On my
arrival, I was briefly fooled by a Broad-winged Hawk landing in the usual
tree. The park manager came along and said the kites hadn't been seen for
last evening was the first time i went to spot 26 and didn't hear the
bird...though overall the woods was very quet.this morning after the rain
stopped i heard the bird sing a half of dozens times by the clearing then all

The Mississippi Kites were both seen in the usual spot on Saturday, June
23 about 10:30 am. They were copulating.

I'm sot sure that this has gone out State-wide yet. Wade & Melissa Rowley
posted a Ruff (breeding plumage male, photographed) on eBird, this morning.
Seen at 6pm last night. It was re-posted on Cayuga Birds this morning at
8:50am. I just heard third hand that the bird has been relocated and is
