from the entrance to the coast guard station.

Hello all,
Today was an incredible day. After that I met and talked to Jacob Drucker
around 8am and heard about his two-second flash of Red Crossbills flying
over-head (at 6.30am) I made RECR the target of my morning walk. I checked
up on the conifer stands on the east side of the Ramble (Cypress
Bird was seen this morning in juniper bushes just south of bushes along
Coast Guard fence.

New York State tomorrow, Sept. 1st. The season for most of Long Island and
Lake Champlain starts Sept. 4th. The
Howie’s Myrtle Warbler fits very well with his even earlier Purple Finch this

Indeed, fall 2012 reminds me more and more of fall 2007 and, especially, fall
1999. Each of these seasons featured an early and heavy irruption of

9 A M Concrete bridge near the "horse" trail.
A brightly plumaged male Yellow -rumped Warbler was feeding in a hornbeam
tree over a stream in CLP. The bird appeared to me to be a "spring bird" -
that is how bright it was.
There was some molt in the tail and
A flock of Red Crossbills are feeding in the conifers by Shakespeare
Garden, Central Park. Great views from the round balcony. Photographs
obtained. Thanks to Jacob for his early morning report, it encouraged me to
spend the morning checking conifer stands.

Yesterday (Thursday) afternoon, in the hope of seeing some, or all, of the good
birds reported on this list in the AM, I met Neil Vita at RMSP, where we
proceeded to miss the species seen there, as well as those seen at the west end
of JBSP. On the bright side, Neil did get 5 new birds,
