Today, the South Fork of Long Island (Suffolk Co.) held many
interesting birds.
The Northern Lapwings were present around Deep Hollow throughout the
day. Several times they were flushed and could either be found in the
north or south pasture.

All,
This afternoon there was a Selasphorus hummingbird in the Heather Gardens at
Fort Tryon, Washington Heights. It wasn't flying much, mostly stayed perched
high up in a tree. Based on what I could see of the bird, I'd guess it's an
immature male. Judging from the amount of green on the
I'm sure many people will post today as there were many birders out looking
for the NORTHERN LAPWINGS. The Lapwings performed well and many got to see
them with an added bonus of a BREWER'S BLACKBIRD found by Michael McBrien
this morning. The Deep Hollow area also had a Cackling Goose, a
This afternoon there were 5 White-winged Crossbills in Heckscher SP, plus
the Feustel's American Pipits were still there from yesterday.

Hello all,
Ari Waldstein and I had a productive morning at Caumsett SP (Suffolk).
It was overall fairly birdy with a couple highlights:
Four white-winged scoters surprised us on the sound beyond the fishing pier.
A pair of meadowlarks in the first field beyond the parking lot.
A northern
Currently being seen on the south side of the large kettle hole near 227th and

Apparently the VIRGINIA'S WARBLER was seen by John Askildsen, Tom Burke,
Gail Benson (and others?) about 1.5 hrs ago in Alley Pond Park at the spot
where "it was seen yesterday".
The NORTHERN LAPWINGS are being watched in Deep Hollow (northern section)
by John Shemilt right
A number of birders as of 9:45 am were still seeing the warbler same area
as previous post {this am and yesterday}. Gail Benson and Tom Burke.

The Northern Lapwings continue, moving between the area described earlier
by Angus (see e-mail below) and
the south pasture across the road.
Other interesting birds around include a Cackling Goose and a bird that
looks very good for a Dusky Canada (occidentalis).

Jim Ash, Frank Quevedo and Barb Rubinstein refound the NORTHERN LAPWINGS in
the northern section of Deep Hollow, near some wet spots.
This is private land but can be viewed from the Paumanok/Parkway Trail
(white markings) that follows the ridge top above the Theodore Roosevelt
County Park
I'm sure there are several birders on the East End today so I figured I'd let
folks know that there are 5 Greater White-fronted Geese on Further Lane in EH,
just east of Hook Pond. There are 3 adults and 2 juveniles.

That bird was in Mercer County NJ.
The confusion probably arises because the nearest town (Allentown) is in
Monmouth.
The bird was not seen since the original sighting and wasn't evident on
checking the most likely areas around Allentown on Saturday morning - but
there's a great deal of habitat in
