A red necked phalarope was seen this afternoon at 3:30 at Pikes Beach on
Dune Road in Westhampton Beach.
It was at the tip of the eastern peninsula and also on the eastern side
of the peninsula. It was associating with a flock of sanderling. It
was in breeding plumage and was still there when
I met up with Eric Miller in the past hour to see a RED-HEADED WOODPECKER
that he found in Alley Pond Park (Queens). The location is along 233rd
Street, near 64th Avenue. It has been calling a lot, and can be heard from

A surprising sunset sighting at Turtle Cove in Pelham Bay Park- Purple Martins.
A male and female Purple Martin were feeding in the cove.
