After reading Isaac Grant's positive post of 7/17 re: shorebirds at the
East Pond of JBWR, I arrived at Cupsogue in high hopes...and left a bit
disappointed. If anything, the # of shorebirds on the flats appeared to be
less than the last time I was here, on 7/9. The only birds of note were 2

7/18/13 Minerva (Western Essex Co.)
I found an extremely late Black-backed Woodpecker nest today. I initially
found this nest hole on May 4, 2013, when the male was observed excavating
it, but there was never any evidence of subsequent nesting. Today, there
