Today, an adult Broad-winged Hawk was observed near the tail of a stream
of 55 Turkey Vulture that were passing directly over the watch platform
at Chestnut Ridge Hawkwatch--located just outside Mount Kisco (Region
9)--at ~12:45 EST. This bird was flying high enough to be almost
undetectable
We saw & heard some nice stuff on my NYC Audubon walk around the Great Hill
area of Central Park this evening. Several warblers remain around the
sapsucker wells to the NW corner of the Great Hill (to the left of the
fenced-in area by the bathrooms). There were 2, possibly 3 bright Cape May

After some nudging and threats, we've decided to try to get a late autumn
trip out of Freeport on Saturday, November 23. (If this makes you happy,
you can thank Doug Gochfeld.) We've run trips from NY to NJ around this
time of year and it is prime time to look for Manx and Great Shearwaters,

A loud screeching Ca, Ca, Ca Ca caught my attention. As I turned toward the
sound, a CLAPPER RAIL had burst out of the marsh, flew about 10 yards, calling
all the time, and dove back in. This was followed by some GREATER YELLOWLEGS
calling and flying

We had a pair of bluebirds that successfully raised two broods in East Hampton
this summer. As has been the case for at least the past 3 years in October,
there is now a very active group of 6-8 bluebirds excitingly inspecting the
boxes, so I am curious to know if they are checking out housing
Hi All,
In addition to the Red-headed Woodpeckers seen by others today, I had 3-4
Sharp-tailed Sparrows in the peninsula of salt marsh just south of Turtle Cove
and City Island Rd. One of the birds was definitely an Atlantic Nelson's, and I
think one (see bad photos and notes in checklist
