Sorry for the tardiness of this post, but this afternoon, just before 2:00, I
found a male BREWER'S BLACKBIRD in a small field at Caumsett State Park (Lloyd
Neck, Suffolk Co.). The field is located at these coordinates: 40.929927,
-73.467896. The bird foraged in the dry, short cut grass, mostly
*Bronx 10-26-13*
On Saturday, Rich Kelly and I managed over 60 species of birds while
visiting the Bronx to co-lead a nature walk with John Young on the Putnam
Trail at Van Cortlandt Park.
We birded several sites before and after our walk with the highlights
being, *PURPLE FINCH, EASTERN BLUEBIRD
At least two Red Headed Woodpeckers at Turtle Cove in Pelham Bay Park remain. I
saw two today at approximately 2PM. The birds fly in and out of the general
area on the wood chip trail. If the bird is not present when you get there,
give it some time, they usually show.
