After dropping my wife off in Commack at 1045, I headed down to RMSP, where the first animal I saw was half of the resident pair of Peregrine Falcons on their favorite haunt, the water tower. The next animal I saw was a large, dark, "buck" White-tailed Deer, who crossed the road ahead of me. It

Not chaseable but for anyone in the area looking for the Northen Shrike like I am. Keep an eye out on the Swallows overhead, I just had one CAVE SWALLOW mixed in with a flock of about 20 Tree Swallows fly by the NW corner of the parking lot of West End II. No Shrike as yet but I am still

I went for a quick walk this morning around the various ball fields at the north end of Inwood Hill Park in northern Manhattan this morning to see if the small, dark goose was still around. There were no geese on the soccer fields, but I finally found the Canada Goose flock on the northeast corner

Hi all. Interesting goose. I think Lesser Canada Goose, Branta canadensis parvipes, is a reasonable conclusion for the unusual Inwood Hill bird. Though usually pale-breasted, they can be quite dark. However, sub-specific identification of Canada Goose is still an area of considerable
