This morning between doctor's appointments in Riverhead, I stopped at
Merritt's Pond. The usual geese & ducks were present, plus a group of 15
Snow Geese, 3 of which, were blue morphs. Looking upon this as the A.M's.
2nd of 3 good signs (both check-ups OK) I headed down to gyrfalcon
territory, and
The Gyrfalcon was observed by Ted Levinas about 7:15AM this morning on an
Osprey platform that lies directly north of the Cedar Beach Marina (CBM). I
stopped by CBM later in the morning and spoke to some birders who had not seen
the bird.
At West End 2, there was a Lapland Longspur among a
Message sent inadvertently before finishing. I blame it on cold fingers.
In addition to the Guillemot we have also observed a Glaucous and an
Iceland Gull. Sorry for double posting.
