At 8:40 this morning, there were 2 Turkey Vultures at the Newton Ave,
Riverhead roost.
At ~ 6:15 this evening there were 11 T.V's. circling in the same
general area.
At ~ 6:40 this evening there were 12 Wild Turkeys (all Toms) foraging in
the woods on the e/s of Old Stump Rd,, in the Hamlet of
For weeks, many birders looked forward to the New York State Ornithological
Association’s (NYSOA’s) Bashakill Birding Weekend, March 29-30. In spite of the
somewhat uncooperative weather, it was a great weekend! We enjoyed a beautiful,

Bobbi Manian found a Louisanna Waterthrush in Brooklyn's Prospect Park
today. The bird was spotted in the Ravine Creek near Three Arches Bridge.
Subsequent searching was unproductive but a picture and report is on
Peter's blog.

The Red-necked Grebe continues, now getting to its 3rd full week on
the reservoir. Also lingering there are a pair of Red-breasted
Mergansers, and some of the other ducks & waterbirds as noted in
