I drove around the garden a few times today, starting at noon, looking
for it and missed, as well.

[nysbirds-l] Eight Geese in 21 Hours

2015-01-11 Thread Shaibal Mitra
Patricia Lindsay and I accomplished a dubious listing exploit this weekend: we
managed to see all eight goose species on the NYS list within a 21 hour period
(Ross's Goose at Southaven CP at 4:40 Saturday to Pink-footed Goose in
Riverhead 1:40 Sunday), but we were unable to combine them all in one calendar
day (we looked for but missed Ross's today).

Atlantic Brant Pt Lookout Sunday
Barnacle Goose Belmont Lake SP Saturday and Sunday
Richardson's Cackling Goose BLSP Saturday and Sunday, Riverhead Sunday
Canada Goose multiple sites Saturday and Sunday
Snow Goose BLSP and Southaven CP Saturday, BLSP Sunday
Ross's Goose Southaven CP Saturday
Greater White-fronted Goose BLSP Saturday and Sunday
Pink-footed Goose Riverhead Sunday

Non-goose highlights from Pt Lookout this morning included the continuing King
Eider and Eared Grebe, as a well as an Orange-crowned Warbler.

The Bohemian waxwing was seen by 10 observers this morning around 10:30

starling, landed at the top of a distant tree and remained for about 10
