Dear all,
As we are nearing mid June, some of us are already thinking about the
upcoming shorebird season. I have been working with NPS over the last few
years in monitoring the East Pond water levels and I wanted to report that
drainage on the pond has begun for 2015. Additionally, I have begun
Arctic Terns can be found anytime in June, although I think the chances for
breeding plumaged adults diminish in favor of younger birds as the month
progresses.
Getting Arctics is a luck of the draw sort of thing. It's typically
different birds that are involved each day and tide - individuals
I find that I have time this June to look for Arctic Terns. I was at Nickerson
Beach a couple days ago and had no luck.
For Cupsogue Beach, I'm wondering if this make sense: I see from the tide
tables that between June 17 - 21 the tides seem to be favorable. This is from
