Finally, there were some shorebirds on the pond today. An estimated 1100
birds, which were mostly made up of Semipalmated Sandpipers. The birds were
scattered throughout the pond and observed as I covered from South to North
and back.

The plum beach Bairds was in the western most part of the marsh from 6:10 pm
till we lost sight of him in the grass at 6:37pm. Bird was originally on flats
east of jetty and was startled into picking up and flying into marsh. Bird has
not flown out as of this writing.

The theme at Breezy Point this morning, as it typically is at this time of
year, was sheer numbers, rather than great diversity. There were at least
5,000 Common Terns in the area, and possibly over 7,000. It was very
difficult to count for myriad reasons, including that there were large

The bar at the marina had a small mix of shorebirds this morning., namely;
American Oystercatcher, Semipalmated Sandpiper, Sanderling, Ruddy Turnstone,
Short-billed Dowitcher and a "Western" Willet.
There is a (I believe 2nd Summer) Lesser Black-backed Gull on the
