[nysbirds-l] Ovenbird in Brooklyn

2015-12-05 Thread Doug Gochfeld
This afternoon I ran across an Ovenbird at Brooklyn Bridge Park. It was
initially on one of the paved/stone paths before grudgingly going off a few
feet into the leaf litter as I passed it.

There's a cell phone photo here:

Good Birding

[nysbirds-l] eBird.org Shared Location - Prospect Park--Lakeside incl. LeFrak Center

2015-12-05 Thread Ben Cacace
A shared location ("hotspot") was created for 'Prospect Park--Lakeside
incl. LeFrak Center'. The hotspot is available now with 31 species
appearing on the bar charts:

http://ebird.org/ebird/hotspots?hs=L4040514=all=

The general outline of the shared location can be seen in the map below
based on online maps and mention that the size of Lakeside is 26 acres.

To see the outline go to the bottom of the Prospect Park wiki page to view
the map in the 'Local Links' section under 'Maps':

http://ebirding-nys.wikispaces.com/Prospect+Park

If you wish to merge your personal location with an existing hotspot here
are the steps:

— Sign into eBird.org
— Go to "My eBird" & select "Manage My Locations" in the right panel
— At the bottom of the screen click "Show All" to see all locations on one
page
— You can sort the list by clicking on any of the headers: Location,
Country, State/Province, County, Type* or # of Checklists
— Select your personal location (it will show a letter "P" under Type*) by
clicking "Edit" on the right side of the line
— Select the "Merge" button and you'll see all nearby hotspots as red icons
— Keep the checkmark for "Delete after merging" selected
— Click the icon that best fits your location
— ... now you'll see the hotspot description above the 'Merge' button along
with the # of checklists you'll be merging
— Click on the 'Merge' button
— Answer Yes to the 'Yes or No' query

All checklists for that personal location will be combined with the hotspot
with this process.
