The Red-headed Woodpecker and Eurasian Wigeon were still present today at
Blydenburgh County Park at the north entrance. Also of note in the park
included an immature Bald Eagle, Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, and several Purple
finches.

At 4:15 p.m. today, a first-winter Iceland Gull was at the marina on the
east side of Port Jefferson Harbor, viewed from the parking lot of
Danford's Inn. This is evidently the same bird recorded on the Smithtown
count (December 27), found a few days before by Peter Scully.

I spent the morning and past noon looking for the PP PABU but with no luck,
There were no reports from yesterday, either pro or con. Our friend may
have sensed the cold weather coming and headed south - maybe the Snow Geese
overhead gave him the news that sub freezing weather was headed our way.
Seen along the eastern side of Wantagh Pkwy north of the tolls. Dark phased
bird.

The previously reported Blue-winged Teal continues at Mill Pond in Bellmore
located on Merrick Road. It is with a large group Mallards, Black Ducks,
Hooded Mergansers and Northern Shovelers, Gadwall and a single Green-winged
Teal.

An hour ago, I saw a male Eurasian Wigeon in the narrow cove at the
southeast corner of Setauket Harbor. This is along Shore Road, which runs
north from Route 25A in Setauket.
