Adult male. Arrived late yesterday afternoon. Flaring to red, black gorget,
thin feathers standing out , rather than as a Ruby-throated would be.

An perhaps unprecedently-late (for NY state) **Black-billed Cuckoo** was seen
(& photo’d) by a trio of keen observers (C. Benesh, J. Duberstein, D. Gochfeld)
at Governors Island on Thurs., 11/3, and also seen was a Yellow-billed Cuckoo
(also ‘late', but not nearly as highly-unusual for date as
