Yesterday afternoon, around 4:00 pm, 15.9 miles, 308 degrees from Fire
Island Inlet.
Just finishing up a day chumming for sharks with a Stony Brook U research
team when the bird did a fly-by over the chum slick.
I was originally unsure about the ID, but one of the others on board was a
grad
It looks like they're finally arriving in Suffolk County. I got mine in
West Babylon today.

Likely a pen-raised bird that always fed from a dish or tray, removing the
opportunity for the bill to be worn down normally.
As someone alluded to before, the bird was probably either an escape from a
shooting preserve or a survivor from a dog-training session.

Likely a pen-raised bird that always fed from a dish or tray, removing the
opportunity for the bill to be worn down normally.
As someone alluded to before, the bird was probably either an escape from a
shooting preserve or a survivor from a dog-training session.
