Final update as of 9:55 AM. There are a confirmed count of 10 Buff-breasted
Sandpipers on the field on Sound Av east of Osborn Ave. Easily viewed from
Sound Av. Worker mowing grass, so flock is constantly moving but thankfully
staying close to Sound
10-15 Common Nighthawks feeding this evening across from the Kimisis Tis
Theotokou Church, St Andrew Rd, Southampton, just south of Sr27/CR 39.

The male Common Teal has also returned to the south pond at Frank Melville

A male Eurasian Widgeon has returned to Patchogue Lake, Patchogue, NY.
Approximately 6 Canvasbacks are associating with a large group of Ringed- neck
Ducks on Seatuck Creek north of Montauk Hwy, by the Long Island Country Club in
Eastport.
2 Royal Terns were at Iron Pier Beach, Riverhead.
Apologies for not posting correct location. Second upon further review and
assistance (Tim Healy) I am confident that the bird was not a Connecticut
Warbler but a Mourning Warbler. I apologize for any inconvenience.
That being said, the bird is working the fence that separates the Coast Guard
Being observed along Fence at Coast Guard Station. Very skittish. Works fence
line between Coast Guard facility and brush.

People are friendly but might get frightened by Scopes and Binoculars so just
be polite and let them know what you are doing. It might actually help the
birds because the Gulls do appear to be quite a nuisance.

The Two previously reported Glaucous Gulls have been joined by 3 Juvenile
Iceland Gulls. The north pond west of Foxglove Cir contains 1 Iceland Gull. The
next pond west of there had 2 Glaucous Gulls and 2 Iceland Gull. Finally the
next pond west of the 2nd contained 1 Iceland Gull. All observed

Still being seen as of 3:05 PM.
One disturbing observation. A photographer stopped his dark blue SUV in the
left lane of westbound Ocean Parkway !!! Not only was this totally unnecessary
to get a great picture of the bird but was tremendously dangerous to himself
and unsuspecting motorists
