[nysbirds-l] Jones Beach Western Sandpiper (Nassau)
A group of us checked the dried up ponds between West End 2 and the nature center this afternoon. After a thorough search, no Baird's Sandpiper could be located. However in the middle pond, among the Semipalmated Sandpipers and Plovers, a Western Sandpiper was observed preening itself and then roosting right out in the open. Patrick F. Re: [nysbirds-l] Western Kingbird Robert Moses Golf Course (Suffolk) -yes
The bird is covering a lot of ground. It flew in from the east and was observed feeding in the median at the parking lot exit. After about ten minutes it flew west, landing in a pine at the turnaround. It then flew again and dropped down in the vicinity of the picnic area adjacent to the golf course.
