[nysbirds-l] DICKCISSEL, Southard's Pond Park (Suffolk Co.)
There is a 1st-winter male DICKCISSEL near the tennis courts at the southern end of the park (Park Ave. entrance). It's loosely associating with a few Song Sparrows, feeding in the short grass and bare ground between the courts and bike path. Quite confiding, not flushing despite joggers and dog walkers passing within 10-15 feet. I left it at ~3:15, in the capable hands of Pete Morris whom I texted just after finding it. Good luck if you go. Happy New Year!
