This morning, I checked the water level on the East Pond after yesterday's rain
and noted that the water level is up by little more than an inch. It is
estimated that we may see about 2 inches of rain by the time the storms move
out and we will probably see the water level up on the pond by

Although there weren't many shorebirds, there was a nice variety, including the
continuing avocets and Wilson's phalarope.?I observed?17 species?from 11 AM to
2 PM, most of these in the north end of the East Pond.

barely got past the entrance. The recent rains have raised the water level
almost completely negating the recent draw down . Moving along the edge is a
challenge as it now is a virtual
