Still feeding at 2nd pond when I arrived at 11:15am, observed with Brooklyn birders Cathy and Karen. Flew to 1st pond (nearest to Nature Center) around noon, where it sat at the far end and, after 30 minutes, flew left, possibly into the phragmites area. Birders are at the location now, waiting

After hanging around for 2 hours and missing the bird yesterday morning, I deserted my wife for breakfast today to try again. This time it paid off, as the bird was there and was close to the edge of the pond west of the bird blind. Attached is a link to a video.

A few people e-mailed me for further details on the whereabouts of this bird so I figured I would send a broadcast message. When I left, about 30 minutes ago, the Red Phalarope was still showing well. It sporadically takes flight in response to a number of variables including low flying aircraft.

The Red Phalarope that was found this morning by Bob Anderson, took flight from one of the ponds near the Teddy Roosevelt center heading east--I lost it as it banked towards the ocean. The bird was showing well but kept getting spooked by low flying aircraft. It kept moving back and forth
