[nysbirds-l] Central Park, Great Lawn: Barred Owl, Eastern Bluebird
Following directions from a birder on this list, I set out this morning to look for Barred Owls. There were a great number of Blue Jays on the Great Lawn, and the area west of the lawn and south of the Pinetum was heavily patrolled by Titmouseen. There I saw the unmistakable sign of owl presence: birders looking straight up in a tree. I had a decent view of the Barred Owl, which was restless (though not under any pressure from other birds that I could tell), and flew to another nearby tree, which gave an even better angle. While leaving the park, I saw an Eastern Bluebird along the path towards Winterdale, which moved off in the direction of Summit Rock.
