Highlights: Eleven Species of Wood Warblers including Prothonotary and 
Blackburnian Warblers and Black-billed Cuckoo. The Prothonotary Warbler was 
first reported at Turtle Pond on Wednesday August 11th by Vincent Ladevaia 
@vondoom on twitter via the Manhattan Bird Alert @BirdCentralPark, with two 
individuals confirmed there by several photographers. Prothonotary Warblers 
continuted at Turtle Pond through Friday. Today (Saturday Aug. 14th) we saw a 
male Prothonotary Warbler at two locations Oak Bridge at the Upper Lobe, and in 
Mugger's Wood in the Ramble. Unless otherwise noted, birds in the following 
list were observed on Saturday morning. 

Canada Goose - 12
Gadwall - 4 (Reservoir 6:15am - Deb)
Mallard - 35
Mourning Dove - 20
Black-billed Cuckoo - the Dene Slope (reported by Sandra Critelli), Azalea Pond 
(reported by Doug Futuyma)
Ruby-throated Hummingbird - 2 (male Tupelo Field, female/hatch-year Shakespeare 
Garden (David Barrett))
Herring Gull - 15
Ring-billed Gull - 3
Great Black-backed Gull - 3 (Reservoir on Friday - Bob)
Double-crested Cormorant - 8
Cooper's Hawk - immature caught Mourning Dove at Chez Armando early this 
morning (reported by Armando)
Belted Kingfisher - reported at Turtle Pond early this morning
Red-bellied Woodpecker - 3-4
Downy Woodpecker - 2 (female & hatch-year in Ramble)
Northern Flicker - Azalea Pond
Eastern Kingbird - 5 (2 locations)
Warbling Vireo - 1 Turtle Pond (3 at the North End on Friday)
Red-eyed Vireo - 2 (1 Mugger's Woods, 1 Upper Lobe)
Blue Jay - 5
Barn Swallow - 2 or 3 over the Great Lawn
Black-capped Chickadee - 1 in the Ramble
Carolina Wren - 1 east of Tupelo Field
American Robin - 40-60
Gray Catbird - 10-20 including some juveniles
House Finch - 10-15
American Goldfinch - male & female at the Wildflower Meadow Friday
Song Sparrow - 3 (2 Wagner Cove, 1 Reservoir)
Baltimore Oriole - 9-14
Common Grackle - juvenile at the Oven
Ovenbird - 1 Mugger's Woods
Northern Waterthrush - 2 (Turtle Pond, Upper Lobe), 1 at the Pool Friday
Blue-winged Warbler - 1 Mugger's Woods, 1 in the North Woods Friday
Black-and-white Warbler - 3 in the Ramble today, 4 at the North End Friday
Prothonotary - 1 male (Oak Bridge & Mugger's Woods) - see highlights
American Redstart - 7 including adult male, 14 at the North End Friday
Northern Parula - 1 in the North Woods Friday
Blackburnian Warbler - hatch-year female SW Great Hill Friday
Yellow Warbler - 1 east end of Turtle Pond, 3 at the north End Friday
Chestnut-sided Warbler - 1 at the North End Friday
Canada Warbler - 1 hatch-year Mugger's Woods
