It's very sad to hear the Corn Crake is dead, but not surprised at all.  I figured it would be hit by a car at some point.  Just wish it had lasted a little longer for more people to see.  Oh well.  It was a great bird for those who saw it.  Probably a once in a lifetime sighting in the US for
