Hello Everyone, I checked the County Road 51 sod fields early today with John MacNeil. Migrant numbers were down compared to yesterday. Our best bird was a Coopers Hawk perched on an irrigation pipe. The Cupsogue flats at mid afternoon proved to be more productive. Dick Belanger and I had a total of 14 Marbled Godwits present. Tern numbers were low, but we did pick up 2 Black Terns. Andy Murphy found a juvenile Yellow Crowned Night Heron at the westernmost tidal pond. There are still a few Red Knots out there and we had both Yellowlegs. As we were passing through the deeper channel to leave we all got nice looks at a Northern Harrier and a challenging Peregrine overhead. Good September Birding, Carl Starace
