After watching the "new" N.Y. Knickerbockers "lin-one", I ventured down to
Hampton Bays, stopping first at the H.B.Water Works, where I found one of the
ravens on the ground, toward the rear of the property, feeding on ? ( just
couldn't make out what those large mandibles were picking up). The bird also
vocalized ~ 6 X during my 15 minute stay.
Next stop was the w/s of Shinnicock Inlet, finding Doug Futuyma & friends
finishing up at this location. Doug told me of the razorbill they had seen here
a bit earlier,( out a ways in the water) but which was not in evidence
currently. I then told him about the CORA, which they were going to try for. I
couldn't find their bird, but I did get (4) fly-by RAZO's a short time later!
Doug also mentioned seeing another razorbill in the bay off of Road I, which I
did find, but by that time, it had worked itself up to the n/s of the bay, e/o
the Coast Guard Station.
Cheers, Bob
