A persistently singing male Hooded Warbler was in the woods on the east side of
the Connetquot River's lower pond early this afternoon, at the beginning of
the Brook Trail. To locate the bird walk east past the Grist Mill currently
undergoing renovation, continue east on the trail and then as it bends north.
You will shortly come to a large opening on the west side of the trail giving
good views of the river. The bird was in the woods just east of the trail. This
is the third time I have seen Hooded Warbler in this location in late May/early
June. Other unusual birds (for Connetquot SP) included Turkey Vulture (1),
Laughing Gulls (5), and Forster's Terns (2).
