It has been pointed out to me by several people that Horned Grebe has been
seen several times this year. Since it takes awhile for "rare" records to
get reviewed they won't appear on the eBird map but I found that if there
is a photograph of the sighting you can see them in the Macaulay Library.

Here's the link:

• Macaulay Library: Horned Grebe (Jan/2018) for all sightings including
unconfirmed
<https://search.macaulaylibrary.org/catalog?taxonCode=horgre&yr=YCURRENT&mr=MCUSTOM&mediaType=p&sort=obs_date_desc&region=New%20York,%20New%20York,%20United%20States%20(US)&emo=1&regionCode=US-NY-061&includeUnconfirmed=T&q=Horned%20Grebe%20-%20Podiceps%20auritus>

There's a way to get to this via eBird directly but I use the NYS eBird
Hotspots wiki page for New York County. It's set up to view 'All Images'
for any county on the site. You can change the filter to a specific species
or timeframe. It's on the 'Illustrated Checklist' line after 'Macaulay
Library' above the Bar Chart tables by month.
