The North Shore Audubon Society will hold its monthly program on Tuesday,
March 24, 2015, from 7pm to 9pm, at the Manhasset Public Library, 30
Onderdonk Avenue, Manhasset NY 11030.  All are invited, free of charge.

Public transportation users:  This location is a half-mile walk from the
Manhasset LIRR station.

 

Kerri Dikun will present "Shorebirds of Long Island (and Beyond!)" 

     Audubon New York's Long Island Bird Conservation Coordinator will
discuss the biology of beach-nesting and migratory shorebirds and seabirds
on Long Island as well as the conservation and education work that Audubon
performs on Long Island and abroad.  The talk will highlight the
conservation successes and challenges and notable findings of Audubon's Long
Island Bird Conservation Program in recent years.

     Kerri Dikun is a native of Long Island.  She earned a Master's of
Science in Coastal Marine and Wetland Studies at Coastal Carolina University
in Conway, SC where her research focused on nest-site selection of Wilson's
Plovers and included organizing a state-wide Wilson's Plover survey. Since
graduate school, she has held a number of positions focused on endangered
species, including Piping Plovers and Least Terns as well as species of
concern like Wilson's Plovers and American Woodcock.
