At Verplank pier had my first long tailed duck on the river side of Westchester
county in quite a few years. The number of bald eagles perched, soaring and
riding the ice floes on the tide (which was heading north) at George's island,
verplank pier, and a bit further north at Charles point were fantastic -- at
least 50 birds and that's w/o a scope or serious counting. Common golden eye,
ring necked duck and PB Grebe at blackrock park croton, and in a brief stop at
croton point park I saw the continuing red headed woodpecker, N. Harrier (rare
there this winter), a perched adult Cooper's hawk (and several more Bald eagles)
