We’re watching a pair of Peregrine Falcons repeatedly bringing Dovekies into
the parking lot at Smith Point Park, Suffolk Co. and feeding on them, after our
second big wind and rain event this week. First one was found by Mike Cooper.
We re up to three now in the last hour. We’ll try and ascertain where they’re
plucking them from, presumably the bay.
Given that we also had 2 Dovekies in the Fire Island Inlet with little effort
on the last storm it seems likely many have been displaced to LI’s south shore
bays and ponds.
