A sub-adult Red-headed Woodpecker was discovered this morning at Caumsett State Park. The bird had a few remaining dark streaks on the white secondary patches and some brown around the base of the bill, but the majority of the head was dull red. The bird was observed caching food in the woods

Hi An Adult Red-headed Woodpecker flew by Hemlock Bluff hawk watch, a site I established just north of Hook Mountain. Same ridge/cliff system and part of Rockland Lake State Park, but with NO people, thus hawk photography is at its best.. I do not count hawks there, but do take note of
