Good Morning All, Ralph Tabor informs me, that as of yesterday (Thursday) afternoon, the Red Trail is now re-opened. For those unfamiliar, this is the trail, where the Henslows Sparrow nested. In short, all trails at the Shawangunk Grasslands are now opened to foot traffic. Please

Just to add to Curt's comment. The entire Blue Trail (northern) loop should be passable. And yes, the singing male can be easily heard from both the platform & gazebo, and should be visible with scope when it's up on its favorite perches, the taller sprigs of flowering bushes (multiflora

Shawangunk Grasslands 7 June Debbie Martin and I (Sy Schiff) visited at the site this morning, received some info when we arrived and quickly found the HENSLOW'S SPARROW. The DICKCISSEL was a bit further along the path into the grasslands near the blind. Both birds were singing in full sight
