About 8:30 this morning, Betsy and I found a first-year male SUMMER TANAGER
at Wilson-Tuscarora S.P. To look for this bird, take the main entrance
almost to the end where there are two large parking areas, one with a lot of
boat trailers. Park there, and take the trail that heads south into the
woods. The bird has been seen up the left fork as well as up the right
fork, not very far from the trail head. Listen for its loud song, which
sounds like a Baltimore Oriole that is a little hoarse. Of course there are
orioles around to make it more challenging. The bird is about 40-50% red.

An update from Betsy, who is still following this bird: She said it seems
to be slowly moving along the creek. Therefore, the best strategy would be
to take the left fork.

Good birding!
