This Sunday 13th of Nov 2011 we had a trip to Croton point. I was surprised
to find a Baltimore Oriole and my first American Tree Sparrow of the year.

The Northern Shrike continues as of 7:45 this morning at Smirh Point SP on Fire
Island, Suffolk County, just where Seth reported it yesterday. It is just west
of the picnic area/restrooms/handball courts. This is west of the traffic
circle and north of the NPS visitor center.
Good luck,
The Northern Shrike was present at around 8:15 this AM, North of the Ranger
Station west of the picnic grounds/handball courts at Smith Point Park on
Fire Island.

Anne Lazarus just called to report that she along with Isabelle Conte and
Edith Goram had continuing Greater White-fronted Goose on the parade
grounds at Van Courtlandt Park in the Bronx. The bird was actively feeding
with a flock of Canada Geese in the North West corner of the field. Good
luck
Seen w/ flock of Ring-billed gulls in main pond in Setauket. (Sign at entrance
says Melville Memorial Park)
Dickcissel currently being seen at Coast Guard, Jones Beach, south east corner
of parking lot.

Had the Greater White-fronted Goose at the lake in Van Cortlandt Park this
afternoon around 2pm. Also had a Ruddy Duck and American Kestrel. A few
Red-eared Sliders were basking too.

In addition to the single males on the East Pond at Jamaica Bay (Queens
Co.) and Patchogue Lake (Suffolk Co.), Jim Ash found another male at
Coopers Neck Pond in Southampton (Suffolk Co.) this past Saturday [12 Nov
2011]. It was still there on Sunday afternoon, vigorously courting a female
The eurasian widgeon was present at the south end of Patchogue Lake around noon
today. It was present with many ruddy ducks, a.widgeons and coot, among other
