The young male Tufted Duck is present with Lesser Scaup on Lake Capri in
Islip. This lake is 7/10ths of a mile west of the Robert Moses Causeway on
route 27A.

Bird was on mound all morning. Just heard it was seen from spot on Richmond
Avenue at normal spot across from Dick's. Patience may be needed. Also keep in
mind that you should stay completely out of the parking lot and stand on sandy
area closest to mound and behind the orange plows.

This afternoon, while scouting various locations for the upcoming Queens
Christmas Bird Count on Sunday, I stopped by the water hole in Forest Park.
Around 3:30, a Worm-eating Warbler showed up to my utter amazement, feeding on
the ground alongside some White-throated Sparrows and a
While scanning the ocean late in the afternoon on Tuesday, Pat Aitken
and I observed a large seabird. We had scope views and were able to see
both the dorsal and ventral aspects and made note of several key field
marks. We had no references with us.

Cackling Goose has been reported from recently. The hotspot should be
available within 12 hours.

The tufted duck is still present in Lake Capri in West Islip. It was
frequenting the north & west sides of the island on the west side of the lake.
