For the past few nights, I've been recording from my rooftop in Etna, NY
(Fingerlakes Region), and either listening real-time or doing a quick
browse-through on the following morning, using Raven Pro. If I hear (or see,
as is the case when browsing after the fact) a good, clear or interesting
So, does anyone know what's up with Dickcissel's this year? I've recorded my
loudest one yet this season, this morning, on an absolutely dead night
(migration-wise). This makes the 4th bird over Etna, NY in about a week.
Maybe these are just more common migrants over Upstate/Central NY than I'm

This morning, Chris Wood and Jessie Barry found a WESTERN GREBE on Cayuga
Lake, Tompkins County, Town of Lansing, Myers Point Town Park. This is
located on the East side of Cayuga Lake about 7 miles North of Ithaca, NY.
The bird was sighted from the NYS DEC Marina and Myers Point Town Park
