very much alone.

The previously reported red necked grebe was still present in the Erie
Basin off Red Hook, Brooklyn today at noon. It was visible at some distance
(scope best) from the waterfront walkway west of the IKEA ferry landing.
The bird was fishing / diving towards the end of the abandoned and derelict
While picnicking in Valentino Park, at the New York Harbor end of Coffey
Street in Red Hook, Brooklyn, today about 1PM I observed a male Northern
Red Bishop in breeding plumage, associating with the numerous house
sparrows there.
I don't know much about preferred cage-bird species but I can

At about 3pm today, Friday, I had a pristine Lark Sparrow in the south-east
corner of the Red Hook ballfields, at first scraping the dirt edge of the
soccer field itself, and then flying up into the oaks that line the edge of

Chipping Sparrows at Owls Head Park in Brooklyn, in the grass below open
birch groves in the southwestern quadrant of the park. When I left at 12:30
several birders were observing it.
