[nysbirds-l] Black Terns at Jones Beach

2019-08-22 Thread Steve Walter
I may have caught something in the way of a Black Tern movement at Jones
Beach today. From 12:20 to 1:00, I observed 6 individuals (1 or 2 at a time)
moving westward through the channel, heading toward Jones Inlet. The
observation point was where the Brown Pelican was first being seen two weeks
ago, although the terns were much closer in (a couple even photographed).
Also, one Royal Tern flew by. I did not see a Brown Booby. I say that
because some scuttlebutt came out about one having been in the back bays for
weeks. That's all I'll say for now, as I'm only hearing it third hand
(fourth hand?).
