OBS: Robert DeCandido, PhD, Deborah Allen, m.ob.


Highlights: Northwest winds produced our first warbler for the fall season, a 
female Northern Parula sharing a perch with a Carolina Wren. Birds confirmed 
breeding: Wood Thrush, White-breasted Nuthatch, and Northern Flicker.

Mallard - 4
Mourning Dove - 6 including a juvenile following an adult
Chimney Swift - 3 together overhead
Double-crested Cormorant - 2 flyovers
Great Blue Heron - 2 flyovers 
Great Egret -1
Black-crowned Night-Heron - 1
Red-bellied Woodpecker - 4
Downy Woodpecker - 2
Northern Flicker - 4 together (including at least one juvenile)
Great Crested Flycatcher - pair
Eastern Kingbird - 1
Warbling Vireo - 2 or 3
Blue Jay - 3
White-breasted Nuthatch - 3 together including juvenile (Peter Haskel)
Carolina Wren - 1
Wood Thrush - nest with young
American Robin - many, several nests with young
Gray Catbird - quiet, only 2 singing today
Cedar Waxwing - adult on nest, a few others around
House Finch - hatch-year bird
Baltimore Oriole - pair at nest, female entered nest with mulberry
Red-winged Blackbird - 4 including definite nesting pair
Brown-headed Cowbird - 3 males
Common Grackle - 8 to 10
Northern Parula - female (missing feathers on neck neck - 2 locns - Jackie)
Northern Cardinal - 5 including 2 pairs
