[nysbirds-l] RH Woodpecker at Rockefeller SP continues
Incase anyone still needs to pick it up for the year, the immature male Red Headed Woodpecker is still present at Rockefeller State Park in North Tarrytown. I had the bird around 3:40 PM today in the original location it was found at the intersection of the Overlook Trail and Ash Tree Loop. The bird only put in a brief appearance before taking off and was not relocated. Also present on the Overlook Trail were two Pileated Woodpeckers and a young Red Shouldered Hawk. [nysbirds-l] RH Woodpecker continues Rockerfeller SP Westchester
The imm RH Woodpecker was still present this afternoon where the Overlook Trail meets the Ash Tree Loop. The bird was territorial of its favorite dead tree, chasing off a WB Nuthatch that attempted to land there. Late in the day seems to be the most reliable time to see the bird at this spot. good birding Evan -- NYSbirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsRULES Archives: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/nysbirds-l@cornell.edu/maillist.html 2) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/NYSB.html Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --
