[nysbirds-l] Riverhead Turkey Vulture Roosting Complex
This afternoon, between 1545 and 1635, I recorded between 32 and 39 TV's, plus 3 Black Vultures. The latter were all next to each other on the Roanoke Ave Elementary School's chimney, along with, at different times, up to 7 TV's...and was able to get some neat pictures to boot ! There were also 32 TV's in the spruces on the w/s of Griffing Ave, 2 houses s/o Lincoln St. While I was counting at this location, a number of birds flew in, and as I was heading home, realized, that since I didn't return to the school to see how many of the TV's were still there, wasn't sure of the total # of TV's I actually saw !
