Re: Aging

I'm not a statistician, nor a mathematician, nor a medcial professional;
however, my 62 year old body knows that the effect of age on the body is not
linear. At my present age I roll out of bed very gingerly each morning.

For all you virile young male and female whipper-snappers, have you
considered the effect of menopause on female performance?

Re: [obc] TT results on OBC links

2002-08-19 Thread John and Mary Ajersch

Michael,

I agree with your recommendation of a Time Trial Keeper (TTK) position. My
vote would also go for Celia.

Celia's continuous hard work and dedication has been exemplary. She has
been patient, dependable, and good natured. Results are posted the same
evening. She not only compiles the results, but also summarizes each event
in her e-mail. She personalizes the results by highlighting fastest times
and PBs, adds humour and explanations; e.g., her running 2k across the
finish with her bike (broken chain), Sally's TT in flip flops.

I have no idea what goes on behind the scenes; however, if I were on the
executive, I would treat her with kid gloves, for fear of losing such a
treasured gem.

Thanks Celia for all your hard work,

Mary Ajersch

RE: [obc] [obcwtt] July 16 Women's Time Trial results

2002-07-17 Thread John and Mary Ajersch

Hi Celia,

So now everyone knows my new profession as a retiree--Street Sweeper. You
neglected to mention that part of that job is Carcass Kicker Offer.
Yesterday, I kicked off a young groundhog, and a flattened squirrel.

Now if someone would design a portable asphalt caulking gun, I would gladly
fill in the cracks.

See you tomorrow,

Mary, S.S., C.K.O.

p.s. I found a rubber cleat cover near the overpass today. Did anyone lose
it yesterday? Call me at 747-4829

Twenty riders came out on this great night and three quarters of them
had season's bests. Sheila Kealey, into the 22's for the first time
ever, led the results with 22:47. Nicole LaViolette, taking nearly a
minute of her season's best, was second with 23:06. Laura Trevisanotto,
new to our series this year, continued to improve with a 24:33 for
 third.

You may see the results at
 http://www3.sympatico.ca/celia.mcinnis/wtt/2002/ .

Thanks to all of the volunteers for making this a pleasant evening. By
the way - just in case you didn't know this, Mary Ajersch has been
cleaning debris off of the course while out for her morning rides before
the time trials. Thank you very much, Mary! And who knows - Maybe all
that starting and stopping is what's making her such a strong rider -
She's riding incredibly well for a woman who's mending from a broken arm
and approaching 62 years of age!

 Celia
