DJ U.S. Rate Hike Has Positive Implications For Indonesia - Central Bank JAKARTA (Dow Jones)--The U.S. central bank's decision to raise a key interest rate has positive implications for Indonesia as it signals a faster recovery in the U.S. and the global economy, a Bank Indonesia deputy governor said Friday.
"For us (Indonesia), the implication is that global trade will recover quickly--most importantly, Indonesia's exports," Hartadi Sarwono said in a text message. The U.S. Federal Reserve on Thursday announced it would raise the rate it charges banks for emergency loans by a quarter percentage point to 75 basis points, as part of its measures to move away from emergency-lending efforts.
